Band Hand Portrait Metal Set

These four hand images were captured in 2023 by tour photographer Brett Murray. Brett has been one of the tour photographers for Metallica since the Worldwired Tour began in 2016. The idea to capture these images came from James Hetfield, who was inspired by a piece of artwork he saw in an Amsterdam hotel.

About Brett

Brett Murray is a San Francisco Bay Area photographer who has been capturing still images since 2008.
 
Before pursuing his career in photography, he worked for nearly fifteen years in the video control room at the sports arena in San Jose, California, creating compelling and entertaining digital content for the San Jose Sharks hockey team, Stealth lacrosse team, Sabercats arena football team, SAP Open tennis tournament, and various other events. He witnessed his first Metallica concert at this arena on December 12, 2009.
 
On December 15, 2014, he had the opportunity to work with Metallica during “Metallica Night with the San Jose Sharks,” creating a behind-the-scenes video of the epic event. In August 2016, Brett began touring with Metallica on their WorldWired Tour. Since then, he has been a full-time member of the band’s staff, capturing video and photography of live performances and creating behind-the-scenes content for Metallica’s website and social media.
