SF Chronicle: Metallica buys pressing plant as vinyl outsells CDs for first time since 1987
The Bay Area hard rock band announced Tuesday, March 14, that it acquired the majority interest in Furnace Record Pressing in Alexandria, Va., which has pressed more than 5 million pieces of Metallica vinyl since 2014 — including 900,000 last year.
