Revolver: Metallica Slam Fake '72 Seasons' Livestreams and Crypto Scams
Metallica have addressed a recent bout of scams that have been popping up across the internet ever since they announced their 11th LP, 72 Seasons (due out April 2023), last week. Some fans may have noticed a curious number of YouTube livestreams that are claiming to offer leaks of Metallica's new record, and appear to be hosted on the band's official channels. Some of these videos even link out to other websites where fans are apparently being encouraged to buy into various Metallica-related crypto opportunities that are totally unaffiliated with the band themselves.
The problem has become so bad that Metallica felt they needed to formally acknowledge it, so last night (December 5th) they released a statement where they specifically identify these unofficial pieces of content as "scams" and beg their fans not to be fooled by them.
