The Mercury News: Metallica’s Kirk Hammett recommends 9 horror films for Halloween

I always have homework to do after talking with Kirk Hammett, especially when the subject, as it often does, turns to horror movies.

The Metallica guitarist, who grew up — like I did — faithfully watching Bob Wilkins’ legendary “Creature Features” TV show, never fails to provide me with plenty of recommendations for fright flicks to catch up on.

Since Halloween is quickly approaching, I decided to share some of Hammett’s recent recommendations, including a Japanese supernatural dynamic-duo thriller, a Canadian werewolf flick and an American film he calls “a cross between ‘Full Metal Jacket’ and ‘Re-Animator.’
