We’re back... and so are the pop-up stores! We are so excited to return to the road and bring our brand new indoor show to arenas all over Europe. And in the grand tradition that started a little over a year ago in Minneapolis and carried on into Copenhagen and North America in 2017, the pop-up shops are well, popping up again! We’ll be setting up stores in a few tour cities so that you can grab your WorldWired gear in advance and check out some cool new, exclusive and collectible items.

Bad Feeling Magazine: Live Review: Metallica’s Hardwired tour focuses on the basics, despite its massive production
At the very end of Metallica’s triumphant return to Montreal on Wednesday night, Kirk Hammett walked up to the microphone and began to reminisce. He told the crowd that the band has performing in Montreal for over 32 years. And it’s true. The very first time Metallica ever performed in Montreal was on January 15th, 1985 at The Spectrum, during their Ride the Lightning tour. It was the same year the Nintendo Entertainment System and Microsoft’s Windows 1.0 were released. It’s safe to say, they’ve come a long, long way.
Billboard: Metallica, Afghanistan National Institute of Music Named 2018 Polar Music Prize Laureates
The seminal metal band Metallica and the Afghanistan National Institute of Music (ANIM) and its founder/director Dr. Ahmad Sarmast have been named the Laureates for the 2018 Polar Music Prize, to be presented by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden on June 14. The announcement was made Wednesday (Feb. 14) morning at Stockholm City Hall by Alfons Karabuda, chairman of the Polar Music Prize award committee.
After Confusion, we heard Bellz, Halo, Whiskey, Fuel, Moth, and Sad is just ending. One is on now!
When a band doesn't tour its home turf for eight years, then it is fair to wonder exactly how a tour is going to go. When Metallica announced 27 shows in North America to bring their WorldWired tour to stadiums, you'd have been forgiven for wondering how it would go.
We’re excited to kick off 2017 with the first show of what promises to be a year taking us to all corners of the globe on the WorldWired Tour. The New Year will be just over a week old when we return to Seoul, South Korea on January 11, 2017 at the Gocheok Sky Dome for the first of six shows in that corner of the world... stay tuned for additional announcements in the coming days and weeks.
The sold-out stadium, with another 340,000+ around the world watching online, connected with an old school Metallica vibe for a roll-back-the-years metal revival which onstage showed that this lot must have done a deal with the guy downstairs because Metallica looked, and felt, completely ageless, timeless and as alive and relevant as ever. Yeah, yeah, platitudes you cry, but you only have to look back over the footage which is already out there, and let your own eyes and ears decide. They were sharp, razor sharp, yet with a warm and “welcome-to-the-shindig-raging kegger” vibe.
Damn, things in 'Tallica land have been heating up lately and this week was no exception. From working on the Ramones tracks, to a secret gig in San Francisco in front of 100 people, to a NEW SONG played at that secret gig.
100 people in the crowd at this gig
Then the guys decided to jump in the Fan Club's chatroom and spend some time with the 20 unsuspecting fans in there. They were talking about everything from movies, bass players, how the new material sounds, to revealing the working title for the NEW song that was played the day before ("Dead Kennedy Rolls").
They are asking us what?
In the upcoming week, we will have more exclusive pictures from all of these happenings. In the meantime, here is an EXCLUSIVE Metallica.com video featuring clips from the secret gig earlier this week! How about "Hit the Lights" and "Leper Messiah"? The video would of course not be complete without…
The newest Metallica song, "I Disappear," is the lead track on the Mission: Impossible 2 soundtrack. The soundtrack hits stores on May 9th. The film stars Tom Cruise, Thandie Newton, Anthony Hopkins, Ving Rhames and Dougray Scott, is directed by John Woo and hits theaters in North America on May 24th. The video for the song was filmed this week in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Utah and was directed by Wayne Isham.
Lars Ulrich explains to a group of journalists, including our very own Tristan Bath, the thinking behind Metallica's new narrative based concert film Through The Never and drops a crazy hint about their new album...
