Metallica stopped by SiriusXM's New York studios on Monday to answer fan questions for the network's Town Hall segment in anticipation of the November 18th release of the group's Hardwired ... to Self-Destruct LP. The band members – James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich – were in good spirits and gamely answered the queries. The segment won't run in full until November 17th at 5 p.m. EST on the network's "Mandatory Metallica" station (channel 37), but Rolling Stone sat in and listened. Here are the most interesting things we learned.
Metallica unleashed their volatile new single "Moth Into Flame" Thursday on The Tonight Show. "Rise and fall/ Who cares at all," James Hetfield sang between harmonized guitar leads with Kirk Hammett. "Blacked out, pop queen/ Amphetamine, the screams crashed in the silence." Drummer Lars Ulrich set the frenzied pace with his shifting beats, and Hammett nailed his Hendrix-leaning wah-wah solo.

We have a long history of not only enjoying tribute bands, but we started as one. Heck, we even recorded a two-disc album of covers! We will always remember those days and continue to enjoy tribute bands, even inviting them to support us on various tours over the years.
Sandman should file the letter in the trash, we’ve spoken to Joe Di Taranto of the band and it’s all good. Keep doing what you’re doing... we totally support you! And in the meantime our…
