Here it is, the new video for 'The Unnamed Feeling'.
Yesterday, Oct 15th, Metallica shot the third video from their 'St Anger' album, 'The Unnamed Feeling', in downtown Los Angeles. Based in the premises of Little Joe's restaurant, and directed/produced by The Malloy Brothers (St.Anger producers), the shoot was taking place at two different areas in the building and utilized dozens of extras to help show anxiety, one of the more powerful 'unnamed feelings' the song deals with.
Guests who will be appearing in the video include world famous surfer Rob Machado (no prizes for guessing which band members were stoked about him being on set and in the frame!) and actor Edward Furlong.

The band shot their scenes in a day, plenty of performance footage with some cool FX we don't wanna reveal…

The film will make its debut during the festival held in Park City, Utah from January 15-25, 2004.
Does this documentary film come as a surprise? Not to those who followed the recording process of St. Anger thru the Metallica.com section "Jump In The Studio." Daily visitors to this section saw the documentary crew in action, kinda like a behind the scenes of the behind the scenes.
Eagle-eyed viewers of the 'Paradise Lost 2: Revelations,' DVD will have noticed that filmmakers, Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, mentioned in their biographical section that there was a future project centered around Metallica. At the invitation of the band, Berlinger…

The videos are from a 1992 San Diego concert and a 1989 stop on the Damaged Justice tour in Seattle; both are guaranteed to turn any fan who hasn't had the considerable pleasure of hearing this seminal metal band live green with envy.

In addition to working with us on "S&M," Michael enjoyed a very successful career composing for films such as "Lethal Weapon" and "Die Hard." He worked with Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, David Bowie, and many others pioneering the fusion of orchestral arrangements with rock, and is the winner of several Grammy Awards, including one for "S & M."
"S&M" was Michael's idea, Michael's brainchild. He said he had always felt that our music lent itself to a collaboration with an orchestra, and from the time he approached us with the idea at that first breakfast meeting in 1997, to the day after the final mixes were complete on the record and the DVD, through the performances in Berlin, New York, and Las Vegas, we enjoyed two extremely fun, challenging, and creative years together. Michael will be missed by all of us, and will always remain an integral part of the…
Y'know what? For an awards show, for a big awards show, for a big huge LA star-studded glitter-flitter-look-who's-coolest awards show, the 2003 American Music Awards were pretty damn good. And y'know who really stood up to deliver? Our boys.
That's right, it felt like the underground inside the Shrine Auditorium when Metallica took up the club and swun the big, brutish object all around the theater, delivering a quite stunningly raucous rendition of 'St.Anger' (an edited one at that) and bringing some tru grit, volume and ?Metallic life to an event (and show) which hadn't been half-bad to start with.
On the Red Carpet
Indeed, couple that with longtime buddies Kid Rock winning a fat award and being there to do their bit, and you had a pretty fine day all round. The guys, despite being bleary eyed having just come in from Japan, were in surprisingly coherent and cheerful…

We're really sorry we've kept you hanging over the last few days. Here's the real deal we've been going non-stop for the last 18 months with recording "St. Anger", press, touring, and all the stuff that goes with that, and honestly, we're fried. To top it off, Lars has a rotator cuff injury that dates back to the "Black" album touring days and it's flared up again in the last couple of weeks. So unfortunately we will have to miss out on touring in South America. Big time apologies go out to our friends in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and all of you who were planning to travel there.
We know we've been unusually quiet, but before we announced anything, we wanted to make sure that we would 100% be able to keep our commitment to our Japanese friends. We are really psyched that with the extra rest and treatment that Lars and everyone else will get over the next few weeks, we will now be…

James is putting the 1967 Camaro that was used in the video "I Disappear" on Ebay. He drove the car during the filming and was given the car as a gift upon completion of the video shoot, and has owned and driven the car for the last 3 years. Revenue from the sale of the car will be donated to music programs in schools.

Godsmack has been confirmed as the opening band for all these dates.
The photo shoot was held on July 8th at the Hit Factory in New York City for Esquire Magazine and their special 70th anniversary issue. The idea behind the shoot was to have current artists portray certain music icons. Metallica was asked to portray the legendary Led Zeppelin, and they were all up for it..until the day of the shoot of course.
A few times during the take, Lars bursted out "who ok'd this fucking idea?", with a big grin on his face. To get in to the vibe they played the classic "Whole Lotta Love" over and over again. The guys must have watched a few Led Zeppelin videos because they all had their moves locked in pretty good.
To make sure things were authentic, tour manager Rex oversaw the clothes and their performance. Rex has worked with Led Zeppelin since the early early days. "Wow, I have not had this long of hair in 10 years, it feels great", said James with a…
