Monday morning, Ten and change
My arm feels worse today than it did yesterday - what's with that?!? It's now 36 hours post-bash and I just wanted to give a big "fuck yeah" to everybody who came to the shindig, everybody who partook on the web and everybody who was plain just there in spirits. It was so fuckin' cool to be amongst it again, to connect with you motherfuckers again, to share some music, some laughs, some love, some insults and a few beverages.
A big "fuck yeah" also to all of you who were brave enough to come up and throw down some bass jams and kudos to Andrew and Elena who led us into "Creep" & "Seek" and borderline had to show US what the fuck to do! Playing for you AGAIN was so fuckin' special - especially in that kind of intimate set up. I'll have to admit I was a bit intimidated, and I'll have to remember to fuckin' warm up next time! Cuz getting carried away BASHING like that is a bit rough on the arm without the mandatory pre-gig stretching, if ya know what I mean...
Metallica & their new bass player(s)? (Well, for that night at least)
I'm gonna head back down to the studio now and continue working on the record. Once again, thanks to everybody for sharing a great day with us and whoever hasn't left SF yet - safe travels.
C-ya in a bit,
JUST A RELAUNCH PARTY 2002
IT FINALLY happened... and remember the cliche 'all good things come to those who wait?' Well chalk up the Launch Party as another endorsement for these words of wisdom.
The grand prize winners were met at their SF hotel and chauffered around with Lars, Kirk and James for a tour of some famous Metallimarkers in the Bay Area, Tommy's Joynt, The Mabuhay Gardens, the 'Metallimansion', not much was missed and the guys happily talked about old memories and good times.

Then it was back to the HQ, where those Grand Prize winners were treated to a gourmet sit down dinner with the band (table cloths, silverware, all the caper!)
Grand Prize dinner
The rest of the competition winners landed via bus and everybody retired to a large outside 'party zone' where they were smothered with games, drinks, burgers and hot dogs and some extremely good vibes.
Club staff were on hand to answer questions and generally hang around, CDs of Metalliendorsed music charged out of the speakers (Slayer, Kid Rock, Saxon, you name it the played it) and legendary Bay Area rock DJ Ron Quintana (the man from whom Metallica got their name) MCd the mike with the sort of aplomb you'd expect of a man who has kept metal alive on Bay Area radio station KUSF for over two decades.
The guys then took turns escorting every winner on a tour of the HQ (believe us, the guys LOVE this HQ set-up) and with everyone also getting the chance to add some graffiti to a rather large expanse of wall on the outside of the building (yes, Metallica WANTED graffiti on their walls!)
How do you spell Metallica?
It was hard to see how much better things could get, then we remembered the bass player sign-up sheet, the 12 names who signed up to play Metallimusic of their choice WITH THE BAND and the terror of the gong that would sound them off were they (frankly) crap.
