The UK film "Mission To Lars" follows severely autistic Tom Spicer, whose lifelong dream is to meet Lars Ulrich. Tom has Fragile X Syndrome and has spent his adult life in a residential care home; ignored, for the most part, by his siblings, Kate and Will. He has only ever asked them for one thing, to meet Lars Ulrich, drummer with Metallica. The film follows the three siblings as Kate and Will decide to break their severely autistic brother Tom out of his home in a sleepy English town and take him to America to find Lars. The resulting film explores the family as they struggle with Tom's condition and their attempts to navigate their way through America and rock and roll, resulting in some frustration, some comedy, and ultimately Tom's dream comes true.
Previously only available outside of the U.S., the film will be available on iTunes in America starting this Friday, September 25th. Fans in San Francisco and New York will have the chance to see the film in a theater in a limited run from September 25 through October 1 at:
