However, some of the buildings that we are appearing in have what is called an "origination fee" that the artist must pay when doing a live recording. Other buildings have contracts with the local stagehand unions that require the artist to pay the union a fee when recording the show. Many of you are aware that we travel with our own sound engineer, but unfortunately if there is a contract between the venue and the local union in place, we are obligated to pay the designated fees.
As we've toured in Europe and North America, many venues and local unions have been kind enough to waive their fees in an understanding that livemetallica is not designed as a money making venture. However, some buildings and unions refuse to budge. Many of you have asked why there isn't more notice on which shows will not be available and the answer simply is that we are negotiating right up to the last possible second, and unfortunately have exhausted all possibilities.
We really appreciate the tremendous support the site has received and are sorry to disappoint you if the show you want to download is not available.
