April 13th - Film wins the Audience Award at the Chicago International Documentary Festival.
April 5, 2004 - Joe Berlinger & Bruce Sinofsky's METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER, which made its debut to sold-out crowds at Sundance this year, was honored with the prestigious Audience Award at Copenhagen's NatFilm Festival, Denmark's largest international film event, again playing to a sold-out audience.
Additionally, SOME KIND OF MONSTER was nominated at the Full Frame Documentary Festival in Durham, North Carolina for MTV's News:Docs prize, which honors documentary films that, "capture the essence of what it is to be a young adult," and, "incorporate a tribute to the young human spirit."
Upcoming film festival cities include San Francisco, Sydney, Maui, and Toronto, among others. The film opens theatrically across North America on July 9th.
For those who follow these sorts of things, "Some Kind of Monster" has been picked up for distribution in the United States by IFC Films, with Paramount Home Video handling the home entertainment release. For those of you outside the U.S., never fear - international deals are currently being negotiated with over a dozen foreign markets planning theatrical releases including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Brazil, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Germany, and Japan, among others. At this point an official release date has not been announced.
