"Forkaelet med Frihed: Lars Ulrich - og hans band Metallica" (straight translated: "Spoiled by Freedom: Lars Ulrich - and his band Metallica") is the first specific biography on Lars Ulrich ever to be published, coming out June 1st in Denmark.

The 320 page biography details Lars Ulrich's very unique childhood and youth in Denmark, as well as his development from being an extremely fanatical heavy metal fan to an ambitious youth tennis player, and later a determined heavy metal drummer and one of the visionary minds behind Metallica. The biography also describes the progression of Lars and Metallica through the 23 years of the bands existence and even takes a look in to the future of the band as well as the creative mind of Lars, who speaks on his dedication to film and ideas of filmmaking.

The biography is based on many hours of exclusive interviews with Lars supplemented by interviews with his family, friends and colleagues including his father Torben and close cousin Stein Ulrich, former Metallica producer and friend Flemming Rasmussen, Lars' heavy metal mentor Ken Anthony, friend and Copenhagen art counsellor Nils Staerk, old Danish music colleagues such as Mercyful Fate and Artillery, Lars' very close friend actor Sean Penn, Metallica manager since 1984 Peter Mensch, movie-director Joe Berlinger, and the journalist Geoff Barton (Lars' old idol from the UK magazine Sounds and later Editor in Chief at Kerrang! Magazine).

The biography is published by Danish publishing company Lindhardt and Ringhof on June 1st in Denmark only, but the company is pursuing getting the book translated and published in other territories as well.

Jens Jam Rasmussen. Born 6th June 1964 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Been a Metallica fan and listener since 1983, music journalist since 1986, University graduate in Danish and TV- and Movie science in 1992. Has been interviewing Lars Ulrich and the other members of Metallica since the tour with "Master Of Puppets" in 1986/1987 and has been on numerous trips to Metallica recording studios and concerts through the years.
