There's only one solid explanation for why Metallica have decided to throw another Orion Music + More Festival this year. "We had a great fuckin' weekend, and it seemed like everybody else had a really fun weekend," Lars Ulrich tells Revolver with a laugh. "I don't think it has to be much more intellectualized than that."

Metallica, in conjunction with their friends C3 Presents, have announced the lineup for the 2013 Orion Music + More Festival, to be held at Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan, on June 8 and 9. Headliners will include Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones and Bassnectar, while the festival will also feature other acts including Gogol Bordello, Foals, Tomahawk, The Joy Formidable, Death Grips and local Detroit bands The Dirtbombs, DEATH and BATTLECROSS.

Metallica will lay claim to another corner of the heavy metal universe on May 2nd, when the multi-platinum band closes this year's Revolver Golden Gods Awards ceremony with a live performance in Los Angeles. It will be Metallica's first appearance at the five-year-old metal and hard-rock show, where they are set to receive the Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award.

The band upped their platinum album totals on two of their classics, with Metallica (the Black Album) getting its 16th Platinum certificate signifying 16,000,000 copies sold while Ride the Lightning receive its 6th. They also received six gold certificates for passing 500,000 digital downloads of individual songs and two gold certificates for songs that exceeded 500,000 downloads as ringtones.

Metallica's Orion Music + More festival is heading to Detroit next year. Details are scant at the moment, but they will stage the festival somewhere in the Motor City on June 8th and 9th, 2013. The group promises to announce the exact location, the lineup and ticket information in February.
