Metallica were the best act at this year’s Download Festival, as voted by NME.COM users. The metal heavyweights played a two-hour set bringing the first day of the festival to a close on Saturday (June 9) - playing their eponymous 1991 album, commonly known as 'The Black Album', in its entirety alongside numerous other well-known tracks.

Mit einem wahren Kraftakt ist in der Nacht auf Montag das achte Nova-Rock-Festival zu Ende gegangen. Metallica mogen zwar kein besonders origineller Headliner gewesen sein, sie erwiesen sich aber rasch als ein wurdiger. Dank eines speziellen Soundsystems lieb es die US-Band besonders laut und klar krachen. Im Mittelpunkt der Darbietung stand das legendare "Black Album", mit dem sich die Musiker 1991 zu Superstars machten. Das gab es in voller Lange zu horen - und zwar von hinten nach vorne. Es war die mitreibendste Show des dreitagigen Spektakels.

Zum Finale des Nova Rock-Festivals im Burgenland spielten Metallica die Songs ihres legendaren "Black Album" und lieferten eine perfekte Performance.
