Surprise!
July 7, 2007
Bass players from all the bands came up to play Big Bottom with Spinal Tap! Including the bass players from Metallica, Rob Trujillo, James Hetfield, and Kirk Hammett. It was quite a sight to see James and Kirk banging away on Rob's basses. Pics are up!
Metallica loves you!

Last year, Metallica performed on 06-06-06. This year, it's 07-07-07. Will there be a show on 08-08-08? Who knows? But let's stick with today's happenings. Lots of bands on the bill today, and an early act was surprisingly Genesis! Coming up, the Black Eyed Peas, Duran Duran, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers!
Live Earth set up
July 6, 2007
Crew just returned from the new Wembley Stadium! While they were setting up Metallica's gear for tomorrow's Live Earth show, Genesis was on the other side of the turntable doing their sound check. Should be an interesting day to say the least! C-you tomorrow!
Vienna Rocks!
July 5, 2007
The crowd was really into Metallica, and Metallica was really into the crowd. Not even the high winds could damper this evening's metal menu. Setlist and pics are up.
Justice is Done!
July 5, 2007
I think I used that line already? Oh well, it's so good, I can use it again. The boys just finished another great performance of Justice. Before that, we had Sanitarium, Disposable, and Ride.
DIE DIE!
July 5, 2007
Vienna is LOUD with the Die Die chant during Creep. The band is just about to start the second song of the set...... BELLZ!
Update
July 5, 2007
Heaven and Hell just hit the stage. Before that, the opening band was OOMPH! (yes, the exclamation point is part of their name).

Welcome to the 2nd Level
July 5, 2007
Hey Y'all,
My name is Butch 'That Guy' Allen, and I'm here to take you to the 2nd level. What? Huh? There's another level? FOR A METALLICA FAN?
Well, OK-maybe I'm exaggerating. I work on the 2nd level of the front of house tower, and run the lights. Big Mick is on the ground floor of our audience based steel city, and I reside on the level above. Why? Well, for starters, the view is better. I have a wide panorama of both the stage and the audience. We all want the best view of a Metallica show don't we? My seat is the best in the house. Yup, I know how lucky I am;)
From my viewpoint the show takes on a completely different quality. The sight of the boys and all the fans giving every all they have to give is fan-f@#king-tastic....swirling pits, clouds of dust, fists pumping in unison, people singing along, air guitar heroes, shadow drummers, gimme a 'HUUH!' (Robert's end of show salute). All of the things that YOU add to the show are the things that breathe life into the beast.
That's what I see. Every night.
Just in case you didn't hear me the first time: Yup, I know how lucky I am;)
We'll chat again soon,
Butch
