DIE DIE DIE
March 18, 2006
DIE DIE DIE chanted the South African crowd as the boys opened up with Creeping Death. We are in the sixth song right now, so far, they have played Creep, Fuel, Harvie, Sanitarium, Bellz, and now St. Anger round your neck!
Centurion Update
March 18, 2006
Just finished with the MetClub meet and greet. (a couple pics are up.) Seether are about to hit the stage, followed by Collective Soul, and then your mighty Metallica after that. On a side note, yes, there are currently some problems with the pics. Hopefully the server guys will be able to sort it out soon.
Line O Fans
March 18, 2006
On the way into the SuperSport Park, the line of fans goes down and around for 2 blocks! Looks like we are going to have some rocking fans in the house tonight! Internet connection is not the best here, so I'll try to post pics during the day, but most will come later on after load out. But the reports will keep coming. Stay tuned...
Show Day!
March 18, 2006
Your MOT reporter was up early this morning at 6am helping push back Metallica's set from last night's sound check, and placing the other bands gear out on stage. Around 7am, there was already line of black shirts forming outside. Metallica fans are metal, even at 7am. More to come!
Hello South Africa!!
March 17, 2006
The boys first trip to South Africa started early, with them arriving in Joberg this morning. Later on after a quick nap or two, they did a press conference, and a few interviews as well. Next on the agenda was the always fun and exciting sound check. A couple fans snuck in right at the start, and just as security was going to kick them out, Lars yells out from behind the kit, "HEY! They can stay, it's all right." Audience of two, your show is about to begin. (Later I heard there was about 300 fans outside the venue as well.) Some of the songs heard during sound check were _____, _____, _____ and ______. (insert what song you think they played!) Pics from today are up!
Estonia
March 14, 2006
The clock was ticking close to 3am this morning, and I was just finishing the MOT update from the Hall Of Fame gig, when my Outlook reminder dinged. Can't forget to put up the Estonia show! This will be only the second time Metallica has played there. (First was back in June of 1999) This show completes all the dates on the Escape tour. Next update will be from SOUTH AFRICA!
Inducted!
March 14, 2006
"Bill, Geezer, Ozzy, Tony, if it weren't for you, we wouldn't be here" said Lars while inducting Black Sabbath to the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Lars also added "if there was no Black Sabbath, there would be no Metallica, and I could possibly still be a newspaper delivery boy." I think we are all happy there is a Black Sabbath, and just as happy there is a Metallica. After James and Lars inducted Sabbath, they joined their mates Rob and Kirk (both Lars and Rob donning Black Sabbath shirts) and ran thru a blistering 2-song set that consisted of "Hole In The Sky" and "Iron Man." The guys were very psyched to have the honor of inducting Sabbath, and playing for them. My "bootleg" shots of the performance are coming right up.
